Dr. Scott Coffin currently serves as a pharmacokinetics research scientist at the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment in the California Environmental Protection Agency, where he develops and applies novel risk assessment methods to assess impacts of emerging contaminants with little to no animal toxicity testing.
Dr. Scott Coffin previously served as a Research Scientist at the California State Water Resources Control Board, where he performed research and developed drinking water and aquatic ecosystem regulations for microplastics and other contaminants. Scott completed his Ph.D. in Environmental Toxicology at the University of California, Riverside, and wrote his dissertation on plastic as a vector for pollutants in estuarine and marine environments. Scott’s expertise are in data science, analytical chemistry, ecotoxicology, and risk assessment.
Outside of work, Scott can typically be found rock climbing, surfing, mountain biking, dancing, playing music, DJing, or spending time with his partner and other loves ones. Scott is a Wyoming native, but currently lives in West Sacramento, California [unceded Patwin Indian territory].
